Default USB not working on 9500ix

I wanted to update my 9500ix, so I downloaded the Mac version of "Detector Tools", plugged in my 9500ix and NOTHING. "USB" does not display on the RD unit after I plug in the unit to my laptop. After reading the forum for an hour, I tried to reset the USB on my 9500ix, but nothing seems to make the "USB" display on the unit itself. I'm wondering if my USB port is defective or broken? I'm pretty sure "Detector Tools" would work fine if the USB were working. I've tried a couple different USB cords thinking that might be the problem, but still nothing. I use these cord successfully with other devices, so I'm pretty sure the cords are OK. Anyone have any suggestions??? I'm out of ideas.

You did not indicate whether or not you had successfully updated it previously.
If so, I don't know the answer.

If you have not, then check to see if your serial # begins with 19***. If it does you need 12v power attached to update it in addition to USB. If not, you need to disconnect 12v power.

Good Luck

Check the serial number of your 9500ix. If it starts with 33, then chances are that the USB fuse needs to be serviced. Mine did the same thing. It originally worked fine, but one day it just wouldn't come on when I connected it to Detector Tools, and I had to send it back to Escort for service.

Well hell, I've been reading the forums about the USB issue. I've gone through two cords and no luck, my serial starts with 33. I guess I'll give them a call.

Sucks because I just paid for the 3 month subscription and will be going cross country for a 4 day trip starting on Friday. I'll be looking for a refund.
