Default Shifter install placement opinions

Well heres the same body style car as the one I will be doing an install on. I havent made the purchase yet but it will either be shifter pros or LI duals. I know the green locations would probably be ideal but they would also be most visible. blue would be a little easier and stealthier, red would be very easy and very stealth. Im wondering how the performance would be at any of these locations. How much effectiveness would I lose with them at the red locations?

Blue would be fine but I would prefer the slot under the Green one for most ideal.

Green location would be best.

Does your state have a front license plate requirement?

If so, then I agree with BRD to drop them down one slot in the grill.
If not, then you certainly want the green location vs. the blue location.

No front plate,

I too think the green would be ideal however I am trying to decide on how much the performance would take a hit if I mounted else where since the green location would have the shifters in plain sight. I frequently drive through TN and they frown upon "parking sensors"

For best performance, it's been said that it's more important to "stealth the car, not the install".

However, I understand your concern. My LI heads blended in beautifully on my last car, but my newer one they are more visible. I wish they weren't so much so. A "beige" grill doesn't help matters. I used black Plasti-Dip on the grill and it helped a lot!

For those areas that are "questionable" about parking sensors, I've actually set up my install so that the cable connections to the heads are easily accessible in the engine compartment. They're tie-wrapped for easy access and secure placement.

If I really feel uncomfortable, I've stopped and opened up the hood and disconnected the heads, put strips of black electrical tape over the face of the heads and turned the main switch off in the cabin. Takes but a minute or so to do this.

I figure I have a better chance of showing a LEO that I'm running "Legal" through their state if pulled over or during a safety check with these measures since I have out of state plates. I'm not really sure how a state handles out of state motorist and/or how they would expect one to remove their system or deter/deny one access to drive through their state. It is a Federal Highway system.

I don't do that exercise always, but I certainly did it when I had a trip to Toronto, CN this past summer! Knowing the Canadian police, they would seize the heads and give you a big fat fine anyway.

How often have you seen laser in TN? I've lived in TN for 3 years and have only seen one legitimate laser hit (marked on Live so no big deal).

I would think that with out of state tags, they wouldn't give you much trouble unless you were jamming them and they knew it. Probably best to just turn them off when you cross into TN and turn them back on when you leave, but I can't imagine many THP officers really caring as long as they were turned off.
