Default EZ Mag Mount is Junk

I've been through 3 of these mounts. The silicone part keeps tearing away from the hard plastic over time. It starts by dangling, then complete tear.

My Porsche is 100% garage kept and the mount remains on the windshield .. i.e. I mount it and it stays there.

This is like the razor-razor blade theory of product development, sell them the razor and they have to keep buying blades!

$1200 including the Laser Shifters and every year I have to make an installment payment of $30 to keep using it.

TERRIBLE product and no one should buy it. Ridiculous. (everything here is true and no exaggeration, happy to discuss if you have any doubts)

Interesting... Personally I have had no issues with the Mount. I know I am a moderator here, but you don't have to take my word only for it. I am sure there are many more that would agree that when used and mounted properly on glass it holds firmly and does a great job. I am not sure what is going on in your situation. Do you have pictures to post to show us exactly what is happening to yours?

I have had a radar detector on the windshield of all of my cars (as many as 4 at a time) for the past 45 years. The EZ Mag Mount by far has been the best mount.

I got a Max 2 in 2016 and put it on the windshield of my 15 Mustang. I took it off and put it on my 17 Mustang. In those 5 years it has fallen off once and that was after sitting in the sun all day in 100 degree temps.

Excellent. Was hoping I'd get a few witnesses to back me.

Best mount I've ever used on any detector. One did break at the pivot joint but Escort replaced it under extended warranty.

Hi LemonDrop:

I'd like to help you figure out what's happening, because the vast majority of people who have posted here aren't having any issues. So that begs some questions:
  • Is there anything special about your windshield? For instance, does it have any after-market tinting applied to it?
  • How do you maintain the windshield? What do you use to clean it?
  • Do you treat the dashboard with treatments like Armor-All, or similar?

There might be something different here. I'm repeating myself, but your experience is different from the many users on the forum. Some have even hailed it as the best windshield detector mount available.

One other solution that you might want to check is the Blendmount mounting system. These attach to the stem of your rear-view mirror. I use one, myself.

I'm happy to help get to the bottom of this as a fellow user. I'm a volunteer moderator on the forum, yes, but like you I'm just another user.

Respectfully,
TBNTX
