Default redline xr no alerts

Took a trip to Pa from NC and back this past week.. I have my redline setup as an xr. I ran threw 3 radar cars on way up and 4 on way home.. Only 1 gave an alert after changing to hiway instead of auto. Also ran threw construction with no alert on speed signs and cams in construction sights. Im pretty good on running 5 - 7 over limit but my wife is not so conservative. Is it time for a calibration or is my redline failing ?

Thanks for you input

Not all construction and "your speed is __" signs use police radar to measure your speed, so you will not receive an alert to all of them.

Regarding the missed alerts, police could have been selectively targeting only certain vehicles with radar, or they were using laser. If laser then you may not always receive an alert. They target your head lights and front plate with laser so mounting your detector lower on your windshield will help it detect laser.

If your RedLine continues to detect sources of false alerts such as vehicles using radar-based collision avoidance systems and stores with automatic door openers and security systems, then it is probably detecting as it should.

If it requires calibration then it will issue an error message.

If you would like to have us look at it then call us at the number in my signature below.

There is no such Redline model called "xr". Can you explain what you mean by this and do you have a Redline or new Redline EX?

As far as your encounters.

1) double check your settings as far as what bands are on and what KA segments.

2) its a radar detector, not cop car detector.

3) the stationaty cop cars might have been in hold mode if radar equipped.

4) might have been laser aimed low and in close. You might not get an alert in this example, laser is very narrow and precise.

5) maybe your unit is broke

There was a reseller who marketed a product named "Redline XR", but it was simply a Redline with the BS/RDR shipped pre-configured. They charged extra for it.

Default travel

I Travel to Pa 2 - 4 times a year from NC and back. Have been of about 20 years now. I pretty much know the common spots the police set. I usually get plenty of warning, yet this trip seemed different as far as alerts to volume of police sets I came across . The your speed signs in cunstruction, used to hit the rector and would get warnings.. also know the speed signs have cameras as I seen a few get flashed / photos taken. Does not redline detect theses traps ?

Default position?

I always mounted my rector right beside the rear mirror. So its best to mount low at dash ? Always thought setting high as possible got distance

Low is better for Laser detection, but high is better for radar detection.

better recheck your set up !!!! and its 2,5,8 just so u know !! and for off calibrated radar guns which drift , might want to run 2,3,5,6,8 but then again its up to you !!! also radar detectors do not really pick up laser very good at all so do not trust your RD for laser !!!!

Redline "XR" lol!!!

Anyway I dont see who could stand running a old model Redline these days. If you want to run the Redline and can afford it get a new Redline EX! or something else that won't drive you nuts on K band.
