Question Trying to identify an radar gun that does not trigger MAX360

Last week I went pass a cop with a gun pointing right at me and my max360 did not go off. This happened before as well at a another area with a cop on a bike. I have taken two frames bit away and right before I passed him out of my dash cam video. Its hard to see what cop using but you can see the general shape of the gun. My question would be is this a new type of gun or technology? Or maybe using some sort of image processing to get rough speed and then use laser? If non above is true then should I get my max360 checked out by sending it in?

I have 1.6 firmware, running on AUTO and pop disabled. This happened before the 1.6 update (I had 1.5 I believe) and after. I dont think 1.6 caused it. I have the video as well if anyone wants to take a look at. This happened in Kansas city, Kansas right at the state line going into Missouri

Looks like laser when I blow up the size and from how the LEO is holding it.

It's certainly an officer but that doesn't look like a motorcycle cops bike.

But yeah, I agree with poolmon, it's probably laser.

But I wonder why he's trying to tag you so close. I would have thought he'd have tried to measure your speed when you were further down the road.

Dan

P.S. - Did you get a ticket?

Cool

Thankfully I was saved by the SUV right in front me going slow but i was still at the borderline of I could have gotten a ticket. I believe he was pointing his gun someone behind me. Nevertheless I think I should keep a eye on laser alerts to see whether my detector still works. Is there any easy way to test the laser detector capabilities?

Hansaya, be sure to read this sticky post about the differences between Radar and Laser. It will help you to understand.

There are laser tester products available. I own one, myself.

The reason he is holding it up to his eyes is so he can aim it. It is a lidar gun.

Turn laser off on your detector, it's useless anyways. Get a set of jammers/ shifters to be protected from laser.

You need to read up on how laser works, it is very narrow and precise which is why the officer has to "aim it" like a rifle. The actual beam if your in close is only 10-16 inches wide, a radar signal would be over 100 feet wide and splattering all over. Here is a link to check out.
