Default My 9500ci hasn't been touched since 2012..

Need some help. I bought my 911 4 years ago. It had a built in 9500ci with 2 front shifters and 1 rear. The previous owner said he never touched it and neither have I.

1. Update? I have read that there are alot of issues when trying to update software, including the unit potentially bricking. I dont have any GPS issues currently. Should I still give it a try? It most likely has not been updated in 8 years.

2. I need to install an LED somewhere on the dash. Is there a writeup on how to add a light? I cant hear my system with the windows down on the highway.

3. Is there a fairly easy upgrade? I see one in the sticky threads for $599 but it looks to be from 2014.

I did some searching on these topics but all the info seems pretty dated.

Thanks,

You shoudl still be able to update your 9500ci. It may not have the Band Segmentation, RDR Toggle option and that is important in order to get the best warning range and fast response.

Go here --> https://www.escortradar.com/pages/update-your-device

Scroll down to about the 15th on the list that says "Passport 9500ci"

Look to your right and you'll see the Mac, and Windows version. Depending on which PC you have down load Detector tools on to your PC.

You'll want to have your PC out in your car so make sure it is charged up....

Make sure you know where your USB dongle is located. It'll have the square connection that hooks to the dongle and then the other end will be USB for your Mac or PC. Make sure it is hooked up to your pc, then open the detector tools app. You dont need the car running or the unit powered on during this process.....

Go up to the software option and "update all software"
