Default The Coming Firmware Update

The max360 firmware update has been out for a while now. I've been wondering when the updates for the older Max series are coming out. I know I probably can't be given a date but I'm wondering if anything can be shared about when it might be released.

We're coming into what's probably a busier time of the year for Escort so I'm hoping they can kick the update out sooner rather than later and be done with it.

The Max360 update seems to be very good, at least once some of the misconceptions and questions about it have been resolved. Hopefully, us Max II users will find the same about the Max update when it comes.

I agree, prompt and timely updates are a must. It's time to stop re - badging old outdated platforms for box store retailers and get with keeping the IVT filtered detectors up to snuff. That's what Escort used to be about and still can be. I personally want to see the Redline EX tweeked so it can be the proper beast it was supposed to be. And then also tne IX and Max line need to be kept up as well. If they can do this there will be millions of happy Escort customers.

According to EscortRadar, if everything goes as planned, it should be release on early November.

Butcher -

I agree. It seems like the last 2 or 3 "new releases" were just remakes of previous detectors. Unless there's some substantial improvement, I don't see any value in those remakes. I don't know what they're thinking unless it's just marketing creating a new name to push in hopes that the "new shoppers" will bite. Anyone doing their homework will see this. There's no innovation. Like you say, it's just "rebadging", trying to get the new buyers to bite.

zengshengliu - thanks. I hadn't seen EscortRadar's post about the new release. I know there were some questions and some suspicions that the 360 update wasn't quite right but I think (for the most part) those have passed. So if the 360 update is what Escort intended, I was hoping the Max updates wouldn't be far behind.

I don't blame Escort if there are some items higher on the list than the max series updates so I hope they can hold to the November timeframe.

It has not been released yet. You are welcome to keep checking here but it is easier to check for the update by connecting your detector to Detector Tools and selecting the "Update your detector..." button on the Main page.

If you receive a message that your detector is already up to date, then we have not released the update yet.

If it updates, then an update was released and is being installed.

Wouldn't we need to download an updated version of detector tools first?

IDK, I asked about and update way back in August for a September trip. It is easier for me at least to check here from time to time than pull my detector out of the car just to see nothing has happened. Maybe we could all have a bit more patience if we knew, how big is Escorts firmware team? Are walking about a division of 5-10 people who are working on updates? Or is it one part time guy who does what he can whenever he isn't sorting other stuff out?

No, the firmware is downloaded by Detector Tools separately.
