Except for the remote installed detectors (9500Ci) and maybe the Cheetah (thats a guess) I don't know of any in cabin RD thats good with laser. I'm not aware of any upgrade to the IX on the laser issue. Maybe EscortRadar can advise you.

I think you're right yanks19986. Even the CHP is starting to use it. Like you aluded to, it seems to be the wave of the future. Laser is hard to defeat with todays in cabin RD's

The 9500ci prvides protection from laser because it comes with laser shifters. No RD (cabin or remote) can provide consistent protection against police laser. RDs do have a slim chance of picking up scatter off another vehicle but those chances are the same as you winning the lottery.

Cold weather and the window down? Laser for sure.

If they are within about 500 ft when they shoot then the beam isn't making it to the detector, moreso the higher you mount your 9500ix on your windshield. Your front plate and headlights are their target due to their high reflectivity. Around here they camp on curves or past hills so that you can't visually or otherwise detect them until you are very close to them.

We can certainly look at your 9500ix to be sure the laser detector is working but, as others have said, normally an alert just means you've been clocked. Laser readings are near instant.

Our ZR4 laser defense system will work great for you. It is compatible with our detectors so you can control all functions and all alerts will be through your 9500ix.

They are using laser... I drive a lot on GSP, RT 78 and 287 - 3 out of 5 times they are using laser from my experience now in NJ. It doesn't always goes off for laser as well. That's how i got my first present. (But if they do hit you trust me it will go off) My rule of dumb always have a rabbit and I applied Veil to my car as well it has managed to save me a few times with laser encounters. Other times my bait saved me. But would not hurt to invest in a laser shifter.

Not sure what laser they are using but just to give you an idea... of Exit 33 going East Bound I got hit with laser in a distance of at least 1200 Yards... It dint go off right away but I see him from the corner of my eye on foot. it only went off right about 500~ Yards.

Perhaps Stealth Mode?

The NJ troopers are big with LTI lasers. All models including the truespeed. A rabbit is a MUST in NJ.

I'm 100% with you on rabbits (I call it Bear Bait)

It's a coating that you "paint" on your headlights, foglights and other IR reflective surfaces to reduce your IR signature. It works very well in conjunction with shifters to reduce the range at which you can be read by a Lidar gun.

Some folks, like vschuel, have actually survived Lidar shots using Veil alone. I think he used multiple coatings though and totally blacked out the front of his ride.

The product itself was designed and developed by the Veil Guy. His 9-5 job involves developing like technology for the military.

Where do I get this stuff? My headlights have plastic lenses, will it damage them? Does it wash/wear off?

Just add a ZR4 to the 9500ix.

It does not come off easily and the jury is still out as to whether or not it contributed to spider webs in some Ford Truck headlamps. Note......a few folks also reported hazed headlamps after using isopropyly alcohol to remove it.

It tends to run when applied so you would definitely be wise to remove your headlamps for application.
