No, no requests yet

Yes, these suckers are moving very well.

So I doubt this mount compensates for the curve in the windshield.
I miss the angled face in the 8500's

I bought two mounts for my two cars. I love the mount, but I can not get a GPS signal with it installed.

I have my detectors hardwired and the detectors is high on my windows right next to the rear-view mirror. The mount works in that location, but it just put the detector too far under the roof to get a good GPS signal. I'm kind of disappointed.

Has anybody else seen similar results?

Though some of us have been lucky acquiring a GPS signal with a somewhat obstructed 9500ix it should kill the reception like it did with yours.

I noticed that my IX on the new mount (High) does take a noticeably longer time to lock up. I could drive several several miles sometimes.

Try This: After you turn on your IX, don't move the car for 30 to 45 seconds and see if the GPS locks up. It then should stay locked up once you start moving. I find that this works for me.

I will give that a try and see what happens. I usually don't have time in the morning as I'm usually late for work. With the single cup mount I will eventually get a signal, but it may take several miles before I get a lock. Sometimes it seems like I'm half way to work before I get a lock.

One of my other worries is how strong is my lock, and am I tracking enough satellites to get an accurate position. Is there a GPS diagnostic screen that you can bring up on the detector to see how many satellites your locked on to so you can know how accurate your fix is? This is something that worries me with the single cup if I were to decide to switch back to it and deal with the delay in obtaining a signal lock.

Even though this is a dash mount this newer mount will do much better than the previous one because it appears it can also be mounted to the windshield but have the RD closer.

No there is no GPS diagnostic screen. The best way to monior the GPS signal in real-time is to turn on the Speed display option to constantly show your speed.

I may have scared you with the 30 to 45 seconds for the GPS to lock up while you're sitting still. Just trying to give a little wiggle room not knowing what kind of care you have. I usually lock up in less than 15 seconds sitting still. Even mounted just above the dash it takes longer for mine to lock up while moving.

EscortRadar is correct on testing. Turn on the speed display and monitor it. That should give you a good indication. Also I "think" it was EscortRadar that posted the issue of locking up while the vehicle is moving. I KNOW it takes longer no matter where the RD is mounted.
I've also noticed that Time of Day, Year, Weather etc. makes a difference.
With mine mounted high, it takes longer, but once the GPS locks up it stays that way.
