I bought the Entourage after trying the Zoombak for a bit. I was discouraged by Zoombak's reported unreliability in reviews and sometimes spotty GPS reception. The Entourage specs claim to have a super sensitive antenna.
However, I am having difficulty getting good GPS reception. I installed the Entourage CIS in the center console, underneath the cupholders, which is what the Blackline GPS tech support advised my installer. However I have had serious GPS reception issues. It is able to obtain adequate GPS satellites far less often than the factory GPS, and also has weaker GPS reception than my iPhone. In my parking garage it goes completely dead, even though the Zoombak was able to get signal. I am wondering if it's where I mounted it, or if the device really isn't that sensitive. I am very tempted to uninstall and return, but I would love to get it working properly if possible. Can anyone help?

Blackline, the manufacturer of Entourage, is your best resource for technical questions like this for Entourage products. I haven't had the chance to even try one and most here have only tried the PS/portable version.
I would assume that the mounting location is the culprit. Try temporarily installing it elsewhere to see if it helps. On a side note I lose all satellite signals (GPS from nav device and our detectors, plus Sirius radio) in every parking garage that I have been in except one which must have some kind of signal repeater broadcasting in it I about soiled my armor when I didn't lose Sirius when I drove into it.Looking forward to your thorough review of it caped crusader! |
