Do what you gotta do i guess. Check out other forums, there are complaints and issues with the XP your going to try as well. As far as the Uniden not falsing to bsm systems, thats because the dumb down the range of K band a ton. To me thats not filtering and not a solution. Just as V1 had to update their unit to a junk K filter Escort has developed what they call IVT filtering. Im betting there will either be a "send it in " hardware update for current Redlines. Or a brand new version will be out this year. No detector is perfect, pick one that does the most for you i guess.

Exactly.

We never said RedLine was good at filtering, even before the BSM phenomenon. It's an unfiltered detector by design. This is where the Max detectors shine. Offering the best detection performance of any detector while filtering and while detecting radar on all frequencies on all bands.

While this above is true, the real talent of the Redline is near double the range on Ka over the Max series according to most tests. Yes, K band falsing can be brutal, but if you can run Ka only, there's no better than an M3.

Redline, currently the best WS MOUNT RD ever made. ONLY the STIR-Oand now the R3 have ever exceeded its capabilities.......

The RX65 S7, greatest UNIT ever for the $$$ (as Nine says, That DOG will HUNT!!!)

Yea The M3 for sure has edge over max series on KA off axis especially but I wouldn't say double. As a matter of fact my Max360 runs fairly close to my roof mounted M3 on KA and even today I noticed it alerted first with an on axis encounter. My 360 on axis is a beast. Maybe I have a juiced unit but I've had two and this one seems to be consistent with the other. 360 is my favorite WS unit overall when considering the whole package in one. But like you said for raw performance on KA those M3s are magical.

I run my Redline with live TSR on and Auto and it's still pretty tolerable. Not as quit as my 360 but it doesn't bother me. But as I've said I live in the country in a relatively small town so I don't deal with the BSMs quite as badly as say someone like you in Cincy etc.

Double the range? Didn't a Max 360 score the highest Ka detection range in a recent detector shootout, beating RedLines that were tweaked for maximum Ka detection range?

If you only want to win most radar detector shootouts then I agree, RedLine is the way to go for sure. If you want a detector to save you from tickets, get a Max.

hey guys, it turns out I previously had TSR off. I was running in Auto and had X off, and had Ka set individually. So should I see a big improvement with TSR on?

Yes, you will see an improvement with TSR on. But the current Redline will not filter as well as the Escort's Max or iX detectors. These are newer detectors with GPS filtering for stationary falses and IVT filtering for mobile K band falses.

I'm most definitely seeing the redline work differently with TSR on......getting fewer alerts, and I picked up a NH state trooper using K band yesterday on the highway, that's totally bizarre, haven't seen that in 10+ years???

For sure getting fewer false alerts from blind side warning systems, just hope the TSR isn't affecting my Ka sensitivity. The unit for sure is reacting differently, but I'll try it like this for a few months.

TSR only affects K band. Ka band sensitivity is always at maximum so no worries. But great to hear you have less false alerts.

LEO in Maryland have been using K band lately and like you, I haven't seen that in many years. Even with TSR on, my detectors given me plenty of warning. I used to worry that TSR would cut my range but the detector seems to have enough range that it isn't a problem.

Edit: ER has said TSR introduces a 1/2 second delay in alerting. At 60 mph, your car travels 44 feet in 1/2 second.
