Default Escort Detector Tools v1.9.0 issues

Am I the only one having issues with the latest version of Detector Tools software? I'm new to EscortRadar and the SmartRadar product (been using it for 2 weeks), so this software is my first go-around. I'm on Windows7 Professional and have the following problems:
1 - half the time the software doesn't detect my SmartRadar. It takes a combination of several reconnecting efforts and software restarts before the radar is recognized as connected and displays the SN#.
2 - once connected, it gets stuck on 40% "Obtaining Firmware Version..." and needs a restart.
3 - after multiple reconnecting and restarts, the firmware version is finally recognized, but the next problem is reading/updating preferences which almost always results in the following error message - "Unable to obtain preferences. Please power up device then retry". This step leads back to either problem 1 or 2.

Basically, I'm dealing with a perpetuating crash cycle all around for the Detector Tools program... Any suggestions or similar experiences?

Default Tools

Try removing Detector Tools and reinstall it. Restart your computer and try again. I am using Win 7 Ultimate with no problems. I allways hook up my radar detector and power it up before opening Detector tools. And make sure you are using a Data USB and not just a Power USB cable.

Default Updates

Do you have Escort Live? I believe your data base gets its update through Live automatically. I do not have Live someone chime in here.

When using Escort Live your Defender camera locations are delivered via your smartphone. You do not need to update Defender.

SmartRadar does not store Defender alerts in it like the 9500ix does. You will not be able to use the "Merge Defender data" Detector Tools button with SmartRadar. When you are not using Escort Live with your SmartRadar you will not be alerted to location alerts.

There are currently some issues with SmartRadar connected to Detector Tools. We are working on them. There are no updates available for SmartRadar so curretnly there really is not a reason to use Detector Tools your SmartRadar. A Detector Tools update will probably be the solution. Detector Tools automatically looks for and installs updates when you open it.

I have this problem, constantly and always have to send it out for "repair". What are the people doing differently that makes them able to repair my radar detector?! My radar does not work, and restarts with any button I press!

EDIT: Nevermind, it just doesn't work on my computer. Works on my wife's fine. Both running Win 10. Weird.
