My suggestions/recommendations for Escort Live 2.0

I didn't think so. It doesn't have a map database installed into it like the iQ does. It streams the map data from Google.

Fellow user suggestion: If you get your Live and go out for a test drive, use the "Other" location type to learn the system. Please don't mark non-existent cop/radar threats. The rest of us can turn off "Other" and not be slowing unnecessarily in your practice zone. Thanks!

Feature suggestion: A category of marks that are for practice. Repurpose "Other" or create a new type of mark just for practicing. Put some in your db, too. Let us see our own practice marks (I suspect we only see other users' marks today).

Currently, If a red light camera location is not in the Defender database, a user can mark that location for self use only. Here is a question to and answer from Escort.

Does marking a red-light camera report to Escort for others to use or is it for user reference only? I noticed this mark can be deleted. It is only for you. They are not shared. Our Defender database camera locations are verified by our professional supplier of camera locations.


To report these locations, you would have to write them down or remember them and later contact Escort about them.

I would like to see a way to notify Escort through the app ( for their use only ), so they can have their supplier of camera locations verify the location(s) reported, and update the Database.

Correction: The speed limit, speedometer and compass work ok, I had an incompatibility with my Setting Profiles app. Nonetheless, I'd still like to have the screen real estate for larger controls.

My car has 2/3 of that info (speed, heading) in easily readable instrumentation. Leave PSL/MPH/heading info on your dashboard tab.

I windshield-mount my phone, which is more safe, but hitting a tiny button or tab with an outreached finger in a moving car involves too much visual concentration. I don't use them because too often I hit the wrong one.

Many good ideas in this thread, especially 1, 4, 5, 6, 7... Not 9, 15.

Consider displaying a solid line for very recent tracks, dashed line for most tracks, and dotted line for stale tracks. The initial solid line would "decay" as it gets older.

I would not advise using a line that gets pale, or gets thinner, because there's no relative reference for its meaning. Subtlety is lost on a tiny screen in daylight at speed.

Denis, I and many other users would love to have traffic implemented into Escort Live but I can understand your reluctance on having it. I, like you, would not like an overly cluttered screen. I personally do not think traffic would make the screen more cluttered but what about if Escort provided us with this feature and we had the option to disable it or enable it at will? Right now it is not even an option. I think giving us traffic and giving us the option to enable it or disable it (just like on current regular GPS) would appease everyone.

I agree they should use the reports of red light cameras and speed limits reported from their users to make the data base more accurate and reliable. have them verified but use our info to help you know where they are.

#21 make the lockouts "stay" locked out. I travel the same route everyday and about once a week EL "forgets" some of my lockouts. This would help sell more product. If I take someone for a ride to show them my Redline with EL they are not impressed when my "locked out" wal-mart reappears on my EL app.

#22 took a trip to King of Prussia Pa last week and on my "live screen" I saw about 25 redlight camera warnings on my screen. It was soo cluttered with redlight data from a nearby road I could not see if there were any warnings on the Pa Turnpike. Not sure the best way to address this but the redlight warning "badge" on the EL screen takes up too much real estate on my iPhone's screen.

Even with this many RLCs in the area you will receive a "Live alert" once you drive within the set distance to it.

You can also zoom in the map which will spread them apart more.
