I saw a post here where someone was asking about trading in an 8500 for the 80 bollars. Escort replyed that the 80 dollars is for "current models" and that the 8500 would only be worth 40 bucks.
Who in their right mind is going to trade a 9500 in and only get 80 bucks???? I guess my question really is what the heck is considered a "current model"? Sorry but any 8500 model should be considered a current model number. |

I agree, especially since the 8500's are still offered for sale on ebay.

The silver 8500 X50 and Solo 2 are not "current models" with the intro of the S3 and 8500 black. I guess bottom line any 8500 ought to be worth 80 bucks. In fact, with the large markup on electronics in general you should be able to get 80 bucks for ANY Escort name detector on a trade for say a Redline or 9500IX.

8500 X50 is available for purchase:
http://www.escortradar.com/passport8500x50/ That makes it a current model. I think you can get a lot more than $80 selling it privately though, especially if you have box, manuals, cords, etc. Last edited by Umbrarian; March 30th, 2012 at 06:25 PM. |

Yup, and they sell the 8500 for 149$ on Evilbay as well. And what a "current model" is I guess is up to them to decide.

Yes it's ok because it's the Escort E-Bay store and the unit comes with a warranty. Understand though, it's the original 8500, not the 8500 X50 or 8500 X50 black. And they are refurbs. Not a bad price though for the performance you will get. |
