I went ahead and purchase the unit. Manage to get it work using the brake controller wiring delivering the signal to the display unit. Note: there is no stripe wire - there are Red and Blue wires. I figure out the Red wire is the data wire and the Blue one is ground. I drilled a small hole in the 7 blade adapter and got the signal wire through into the adapter and connected it to the brake contoller pole, then connected the red wire from the display unit to the blue wire of the brake controller harness under the dash in my truck, and grounded the blue wire of the disply unit. I also had to drill two new holes in the 2" plastic receptor (new locations) that the sensor is attached to, to it would fit snugly in my truck 2" receptor. I also installed small switch under the dash that I can use to switch beween the break controller or the mini as to what is connected to the harness. All took about 30 minutes. Tested and all work as expected.

I am definitely interested in this product. However anyone with any reviews of how well (or not well) this thing works?
Also I noticed in the brochure pick the beam pattern/alert is for 3, 5, and 9 feet. That sounds great for safety and all. But what if I just plan to use this thing to help me back into spaces without hitting a car/wall. The red warning supposedly starts at 3 feet, which is pretty far...does it give you any additional warning, say when you get to like I don't know 1-2 feet away? 1 feet away? 6 inches? Thanks Gavin |

What happens if a cop that is handy with a soldering iron pulls out his radar gun and modifies it to use the same modulation?

Then they may be able to measure speed at about 6-10 feet away from them.

So it could be used for Photo Radar?

Doubtful, but if it could it only measures objects close to the vehicle so it wouldn't be very useful for a "radar gun".
